Astarte, devourer of men’s hearts is one of 25 works featured in the Engine Room International Sound Art Exhibition at Morley College, London, from April 28 to May 16, 2025. The exhibition is a biennial event celebrating new sound art from around the globe. Following an open call, finalists were selected from over 170 submissions representing more than 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, China, Thailand, Albania, and the United States. The 2025 exhibition features sound sculpture, immersive multi-speaker installations, interactive works, and audio-visual pieces, each offering a unique perspective on how we experience and engage with sound in our daily lives.

By way of personal introduction, I supplied the following autobiographical note to the exhibition:

“Astarte, devourer of men’s hearts” is an example of this artist’s embrace by the anarchic spirit of Dada and his seduction by the succubus of Surrealism. He remains resolutely and perversely mired in the ethos of those early 20th century movements, recognizing the dreadful historical parallels that exist between the age that gave birth to them, and our own.
